Mississippi University for Women (MSCW) was established in 1884 A.D as a public University. It runs under the president ship of the University is James “Jim” Borsig (academic affairs), Nora Miller (finance and administration) and Dr. Jennifer Miles (student affairs). Mississippi University for Women is located in Columbus in Mississippi of United States of America. The color for the University is dark blue and light blue with the nickname of “The W”. The mascot for Mississippi University for Women is Ody the owl. It is the first public Women College in the whole United States. The name of the college was changed to MSCW in 1920. This University provides undergraduate programs to students such as nursing, elementary education, psychology, business administration and management, usual and performing arts, family systems, accounting, paralegal, social sciences, English and so on among which the most awarded programs are art education, biology, chemistry, communication, graphic design, history, music for undergraduate students where as the top 8 degrees awarded to the Mississippi University for Women are master of science in nursing, master of science in speech-language pathology, master of education in reading literacy, master of science in health education, master of education in differentiated, master of education in gifted studies, master of arts in teaching. Mississippi University for Women provides more than 70 majors in undergraduate program. This University was actually a Women University but it was opened for men as well that is why the rate of male is less than that of Women in the University. More than 79% of Women are the students of the University whereas only 21% of the men study in this University. This University is popular for nursing as it is a Women University, Mississippi University of Women has ECA periods whereas they provide a quality education to the students. The specialized majors that Mississippi University of Women provide are Master of Science in Nursing ,Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology, Master of Education in Reading/Literacy, Master of Science in Health education, Master of Education in Differentiated Instruction, Master of Education in Gifted Studies, Master of Arts in Teaching. Mississippi University for Women is the University that was established for the welfare of the Women and their education to prove that Women as well can have their future if they are given proper education and knowledge about the society and environment. This University has given Women a good opportunity for their better future and success.
